This experience is designed for everyone! Whether you’re a complete beginner or a seasoned artist, our art tutor will tailor the guidance to your skill level.

No, all art materials, including a complimentary Mole-skin sketchbook and sketching equipment, will be provided. And Acrylic paint , brushes and small canvases are supplied in the painting Art adventure. Along with packaging to carry them home.

Wear comfortable clothing and walking shoes suitable for outdoor locations. It’s also a good idea to bring sunscreen, a hat, and a reusable water bottle. Also bring your camera and binoculars if you have them. Very important to remember any medication - even hayfever tablets if your prone in grassy areas.

The half day art adventure is approximately 4 hours. The full-day experience, typically lasting around 6–7 hours, The Routeburn art tour is 8 hrs. Our Gallery and art studio tour is a half day approximately 4 hours. As is our photography tour. These times are including travel time, sketching sessions, and lunch and return to Country lane.

We monitor the weather closely. If conditions are extremely unsuitable, and Art Adventures decides it is not safe or comfortable for guests to be outside on tour. Art Adventures will notify you by phone the day before and either reschedule your adventure, offer you a different option for the day if you can’t reschedule or a full refund.

If it is a little bit rainy, we alter full day tours to the Art studio & Gallery tour combined with a painting session in the studio. But we still do a tour. Please see our cancellation policy details.

Where does the Art adventure start and end?

The art adventure begins at Country Lane studio - 26 Hansen road Frankton. Where there is all day parking and facilities. We leave her together in the Art Adventures 4WD and returns here at the end of tour. For large groups or private tours, pick up is available.

If you do not have a car and are staying down at Queenstown village town centre, we have 1 pick up spot in Athol street for the tours. Please let us know if you need to be picked up here. We do not do numerous pick ups as we all meet at the studio.

Transportation from the meeting point of Art adventures studio to and from the locations is included in the tour experience. You’ll travel comfortably in a 4WD vehicle with your guide and group.

If you don’t have a car to begin the journey from the studio at Frankton, there is 1 pick up spot at Athol street bus shelter in central Queenstown village. Please let us know if you need to be picked up here for your tour.

We choose locations that are easily accessible, but please let us know about any specific needs when booking, and we’ll do our best to accommodate you. We have 6 locations dependent on the groups capabilities. This might be parking at lakeside with bathroom facilities to a short hike or a longer hike up high.

I’ve never sketched before—will I be able to keep up?

Absolutely! Our art tutor specializes in making art easy and fun for everyone. You’ll receive step-by-step guidance tailored to your experience level. This art experience is for everyone.

Of course! The sketchbook and all the art you create during the day are yours to keep. Along with the art equipment so you can keep sketching on your holiday.

The half day Art Tours all use the complimentary Skethc book art kit. Whether lakeside or hiking and high mntn Gondola / Alta Lake art tours are sketchbook based focusing on sketching as a foundation for creating art with watercolour pencils and keeping the light weight materials.

The full day also includes the complementary art kit and offers a chance to sketch & paint on small canvas with easels, En plein-air outdoors. Art adventures focuses on basic sketching and painting with acrylics as they dry quickly. The elements of drawing and painting apply in both tours. These come with packaging options for visitors and postage if needed. For experienced painters who would like to use oils and have the capacity to pick up their painting from the studio before departure. We can organise an oil painting session for a small added cost for oil paint.
